WINGS of Love and Care ministers to families in St. Louis. Many are at their lowest point as they struggle to provide for their children and overcome life’s many challenges. Our bi-weekly food distributions held on Fridays help meet some of the most basic needs of families by providing meat, fresh vegetables, fruit, canned goods, and dry goods as available. Our dedicated volunteers faithfully pick up and package the food every week so it is ready to distribute to the community.

Because of you, our partners, this program in 2019 alone served:

• You provided 16,954 people, (4,794 families and 8,361 children) with 100,499 pounds of food through your Food Distribution Programs at the Center and through Confluence Academy.
• You provided 177 families a Thanksgiving meal and 92 families a Christmas meal.
• You provided 100 people with Christmas this year.  This includes 19 families and 73 children.

[tabby title=”Children”]After School Children’s Programs

WINGS of Love and Care offers an After School Program every Thursday for children in South St. Louis. Volunteers faithfully serve to provide homework assistance, dinner, arts & crafts, games, and ministry to both the children and their families. One parent said: 

I thank you for everything.  I am truly blessed to have WINGS of Love and Care in my children’s life as well as mine.  They are great teachers of God.  They talk to the children as well as listen. They always have a story to tell when they get home.  I love Wings because they help me out with children by helping with homework and giving a hot meal.  They also check on the family when they bring the children home.  They are very reliable and most important, the children enjoy themselves very much. And they love the volunteers there, so that is another blessing.  Thank you for everything.

Additionally, we host several outreaches in the community to provide school supplies and Christmas for children in need. We work closely with a local elementary school that has 100% of its students living below the poverty line in order to reach children and families most in need.

[tabby title=”Outreach”]Community Outreach

WINGS Love and Care host several outreaches to the community to help ease the burden on families. We provide backpacks, school supplies, and school uniforms to dozens of children every year.

In 2017, we provided coats, hats, and gloves to more than 350 children and adults and plan to continue this new outreach in 2018. Thanks to our partners, we provide turkeys and a bag of food with all the trimmings so over 200 families can make their Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners at home every year.

Since 2016, we have partnered with Confluence Academy a local elementary school where 100% of the students live below the poverty line to provide distribution events to children in the school including a unique Christmas Party which included dinner with the entire family. At the Christmas Party, the parents received 4-5 gifts per child and other household goods. Santa and Mrs. Clause even came to provide one of the gifts! Volunteers bagged up all but Santa’s gift, so the parents could take them home, wrap the gifts themselves and give the gifts to their children with dignity on Christmas morning.

In addition, the children who attend the Wings After School Program also benefited from these outreaches.

Wings of Love and Care is blessed with volunteers who faithfully serve every week in the After School Program and with the Food Distribution program.
