REFUSE TO DO NOTHING Cover

July 2019 Cover Full

Almost on a daily basis, we are confronted with innocent children in desperate situations that require immediate attention. Life and death situations where there is no choice but to respond, and with God’s guidance, help the helpless.
This is our mission. We refuse to do nothing. And we thank you for sharing in our commitment by supporting us and allowing us to become your hands and feet in this most worthy of endeavors. Together, we are making a big difference.

Moving Forward In East Africa
So much has happened since we first began 17 years ago. You have moved Crisis Aid from providing essential crisis intervention, to also launching ongoing sustainability programs for the people you serve.

Breaking The Cycle Of Generational Abject Poverty
The TESIFA Project, a 4-pronged sustainability program, sits on 11 acres of land right in the heart of one of the most impoverished areas we serve. Its intertwined elements (Feeding Center, Medical Facility, Commercial / Training Dairy Farm, and Agricultural Demonstration Farm) are designed to educate, launch, and sustain the surrounding farmers and their communities for generations to come!

The Girls Village is a 4-tiered project (Girls’ Home, Children’s Center, Vocational School, and Commerce Building) that focuses on the ongoing future of the girls, once victims of sexual slavery, and their children.

UNITED STATES

Refuge Home (for Sex Trafficking Victims)
• You provided a safe and loving home for 24 girls, with 18 joining this year.
• You launched “crisis intervention” services with authorities.

Wings Love & Care Center
• You provided 11,597 people (4,404 families and 4,312 children) with 62,742 pounds of food through your Food Distribution Program.
• You provided 176 families a Thanksgiving meal and 116 families a Christmas meal.
• You provided 203 children with Christmas this year.

Volunteers (we could not do this without them)
• Over 209 volunteers donated their time and their resources.
• They gave 12,314 hours of service, saving thousands of dollars that we were able to apply to the programs.

Moving Forward In the United States
So much has happened since we opened the US Refuge Home and acquired Wings, Love & Care Center. Together, we expanded far beyond the walls that house these programs and are now proactively involved in the communities we serve.

In November 2018, Crisis Aid was invited to open an office in a local Police Station where most of the sex trafficked girls in your US Refuge Home come from. With these officers, we are also actively involved with children who are in extremely high-risk situations. We are also providing front line intervention for those who are already caught in the horrors of sex trafficking.

What a change you are starting to make in these communities that will be felt for generations to come!

Every number has a name, every name has a story, every story matters to God.

A Life Worth Fighting For

Life Worth Fighting For
Life Worth Fighting For
A Life Worth Fighting For

According to Forbes, sex trafficking is the fastest growing crime in the world today. How is it possible that this evil continues to spread like a plague relatively unchecked for decades? This is a travesty far beyond what words can describe.

Since 2007, Crisis Aid and our partners have worked with girls across the globe trapped in this living hell; their lives shattered and destroyed beyond recognition. Yet through these years, we have been privileged to help over 1,000 of these innocent young girls escape and move toward a new life completely restored and fulfilled!

Do you remember Asha from your September 2017 Newsletter? She is the young girl that was sold by her parents to a local witch doctor when she was just a child. Her life was completely destroyed; her childhood hopes and dreams shattered! While her restoration was lengthy, it was well worth it.

This year Asha is planning to get married! She chose the date her parents sold her to be her wedding date. Sue and Pat Bradley will have the privilege of walking her down the aisle. WOW! What a story of restoration! We are humbled and blessed to be a part of this young girl’s life.

While Asha has grown and flourished, Danielle is a young girl whose journey of restoration is just beginning. When she was only 15, she ran away from her home where she was being sexually abused and beaten. For over 8 years Danielle has been living in cars, sleeping on benches, and being passed from pimp to pimp for trade and profit.

Danielle found a church who told her about your Refuge Home. They immediately called Crisis Aid, and we welcomed her into our safe home just this month. When she first walked in she looked like a frail and frightened child.

We gave her a tour of her new home and she broke down in tears. She just sobbed, “I’ve never had a bed before.” The shame she was feeling was overwhelming. We just held her and cried with her. Danielle’s story of restoration is just starting. Her journey will be hard, but if she stays with it, those years of abuse and neglect will be transformed.

Praise God, Danielle and Asha did not fall through the cracks as do so many. There are literally millions of young girls at serious risk, but with your support, we can help rescue those within our sphere.

We are grateful that you care and want to help rescue these girls from their nightmare.

Please do not let precious girls like Danielle or Asha fall through the cracks. Show them that someone cares. Help them dream again by being a part of their miraculous rescue. Taking a step is easy; help create awareness, become an advocate, hold a fundraiser, become a monthly partner. Dream big. The possibilities of what you can do to help these victimized girls are only limited by your imagination.

Thank you for your love, support, and prayers over the years.

God Bless You,
Pat and Sue

Jengo’s Story – Hope For Tomorrow

September 18 Newsletter

Meet Jengo. This is the beginning of his story, not the end.

The day started off like any other day. We were headed to a local village to check on children that had been part of our feeding program. After driving several miles we got out and started walking down an old dirt road. As we rounded a corner, sitting alone on an empty grain sack, was a very frail little boy — dirty, malnourished, and crippled.

A young man came along and placed the small, frail boy on his knee. We learned that this young man was Jengo, the boy’s 18 year old brother.

Their parents had died and Jengo was raising four younger brothers all by himself. As they gathered around Jengo, we were inspired by his obvious love and resolve to care for his family. While talking with them, we realized that the crippled little boy suffered from a twisted spine and had no access to medical care.

The villagers knew that Jengo could not work and take care of his siblings alone, so they arranged a marriage with a local girl. She soon became pregnant and gave birth to a baby girl. Now, there were seven in this household.

Jengo’s occupation as a day laborer might earn him 500 a day, if he was lucky. How could this teenager care for a family of seven on 500 a day? This family could not survive by living the way their parents did — as day laborers, just scraping by, always hungry, helplessly watching as family members slowly waste away.

Obviously, this was a major crisis.

Together We Are Making A Difference. We are taking Jengo’s crippled brother to a skilled doctor that we believe can greatly improve his condition. Our dream is to see him running and playing with other children in the near future. Jengo is now working for Crisis Aid delivering food to needy villages. At long last, he deservedly has a way to support and take care of his entire family.

Together we can take care of so many more families that are in crisis! We cannot do this work without you — you are crucial to helping the helpless. Please continue to be the answer to their prayers! And thank you for allowing us to do what we do.

A Celebration of Restoration and Hope

When we first met Kacee, the Red Light District was her home. She was broken and afraid, distrusting everyone, especially men. Her journey toward restoration was a rocky one, but through your committed partnership, she graduated from Mercy Chapel Vocational Training Center, became a teacher to those still trapped, and is now an active leader in the Crisis Aid Global Safe Campaign.

However, Kacee’s story does not end here. In February 2017, she walked down the aisle to the love of her life with Pat and Sue Bradley by her side as her honorary parents. Now, that is a success story!

Thank you for your continued support.

There is still so much more to do.

If you have not given before we invite to join us as a group of people who refuse to do nothing. It is your giving that “saves lives, saves souls and changes futures.”

God Bless You,

Pat & Sue Bradley

Wings 2017 Year End Report

WINGS Bless this House

Wings 2017 – YEAR END REPORT

Dear Friends,

Wings / Love & Care is blessed with incredible volunteers and a small group of donors. It is important you know YOU ARE VITAL to this ministry. Because of you, 14,239 people were served in 2017. Thank you for showing love and care to families and children in St. Louis.

Your Food Distribution Program served 14,239 people in 2017. More than 71,272 pounds of food filled the cupboards and fridges of families in need. We were blessed to continue providing meat on a regular basis as well as fresh vegetables, fruit, canned goods, dry goods and desserts as available. Your giving made this possible! Our faithful volunteers continued to package the food each week and keep the Center clean and organized.

We are thankful to be able to continue the weekly After School Program and also offer Summer VBS to the children in the community. These programs have helped us build relationships with the children and families and provided a safe place for the children to come work on homework, learn about Jesus, receive a meal and benefit from many recreational activities. We continue to partner with Confluence Academy through distribution events to children in the school. We partnered with backpack distribution and a wonderful Christmas party.

In addition, the children who attend the Wings After School Program also benefited from these outreaches and also received backpacks and Christmas presents.

We hosted the annual Thanksgiving Food Distribution and Christmas Food Distribution as well, providing families the opportunity to prepare and enjoy holiday meals at home.

In total, you provided the following services in 2017:

Christmas gifts made by the children for their families.

197 Children received Backpacks & School Supplies

 150 Children received Coats and dozens Hats & Gloves

 200 Adults received Coats

 201 Families received Thanksgiving Groceries

 113 Children received 4-5 Christmas Gifts

 162 Families received Christmas Groceries

 10 Weeks of Vacation Bible School /Special Outings

 44 Weeks of After School Program with special activities for all Holidays

Your gifts and faithful partnership provided services to the children, and individuals, families, churches, and businesses expanded our capacity to do more in 2017 than ever.

Christmas party note from Stephanie Glore, Crisis Aid Staff member:

“Yesterday God did a work in my heart like only He can do.

Seeing 38 families blessed with a Christmas is a joy I can’t describe. Hearing their stories and hearing how they would not be having a Christmas if it wasn’t for yesterday is beyond humbling. (Because) it reminds me to be thankful for what my family does have, and it’s humbling knowing God chose each one of us to be their help in this season.

I watched sponsors provide toys for kids, clothes, and shoes for kids and their parents, electronics and small appliances parents cannot afford, basic house cleaning supplies and toilet paper, gift cards for Christmas dinner groceries, and even a bed provided for a mom and dad that sleep on the couch and floor. The generosity and care that was poured on to these families were incredible and so touching.

What a reminder….As Pat (Crisis Aid International Founder) told each person yesterday in tears…how much God loves each of us. How much HE sees each of us. How much HE cares about exactly where we are right this second. What a day what a word straight to my heart. Serving other brings more joy and fulfillment than any other thing.”

It was a beautiful event. The families were so touched by the generosity of the donors. 38 families received Christmas and they were truly grateful for all they received. The families truly had no way to provide Christmas for their family. There were 113 children and 53 adults that were provided Christmas in 2017.

A family blessed during the Christmas season.

THANK YOU for restoring dignity, providing encouragement, meeting basic needs and providing many blessings to families in south St. Louis with great love and care.

We hope you will continue walking with us in 2018 to provide services with dignity through donations, volunteer service, and gift-in-kind donations. God bless you!

By His grace,

Sue & Pat Bradley & Team

US Refuge 2018 Newsletter

US Refuge 2018 Newsletter

Katlyn Eyes

A model was used for the pictures so we can protect the identity and dignity of the survivors we serve.

You can help make her SOMEDAY start today.

There are more than 244,000 American children at risk of being trafficked each year1. These are not children in a far off land, but children from our own backyard.

In 2016 alone, the FBI and their affiliates reported arresting nearly 2,600 traffickers and rescuing approximately 6,000 children2; and these are just the ones we know about. Polaris estimates that the total number of victims nationally reaches into the hundreds of thousands — including both adults and minors victimized by trafficking3.

Our Refuge home in the U.S. has had the unique privilege of serving over 155 of these girls caught in the horrors of trafficking. Some are children and some are adults that have been trafficked for many years.

KATLYN’S STORY: At a very early age, Katlyn had already lived a life filled with more horror and tragedy than most of us could ever imagine. When she was very young, a neighborhood boy began using her and “giving” her to his friends. She had become property that he sold for drugs and money.

Katlyn was a runaway and, at the age of 16, came to our Refuge home in early spring. Through our Home’s programs, love, patience, and perseverance, we began seeing Katlyn transform before our very eyes. Now, 17 years old, she is attending high school again and has a 3.3 GPA. For the first time since Katlyn can remember, she is happy.

“I never realized how much I was worth until now. This place has given me hope again.”

Many others at our Refuge home have said that without our loving care they don’t know what would have happened to them.

The Fight Against The Evil Of Sex Trafficking Is Far From Over.

There are so many girls just like Katlyn still waiting for someone to help them. We have the space to double the number of girls we currently serve, but our financial resources limit us. Please consider being a part of their rescue. Your donation is life-changing!

Thank you for all you do. We are so blessed to have you as part of this journey and we know we cannot do this without your support.

God Bless You, Pat and Sue Bradley

Mercy Chapel – We teach girls trapped in the Red Light District new skills to start new jobs.

Refuge Homes – Girls rescued from the horrors of trafficking receive the best services for healing possible and all homes are currently full.

Water Wells – Twelve new water wells were completed this year, providing clean water for thousands.

Children’s Home for Girls – Our girls, once orphaned, are now living in a loving home and growing fast.

As the year draws to an end, we cannot express enough, our gratitude for the part you play on our Crisis Aid team. The lives you have saved, the souls you have helped, are forever changed. Hope has been given that transcends language and distance, all because you cared. But the harsh reality of children suffering is still present. And there are ever so many waiting to be served. This is their Christmas. Please don’t forget them. Stay ever vigilant and committed to being a part of the reason for the season. These children need your help more than ever. Give them a chance to be with us to enjoy a Christmas next year. Thank you for being the answer to their prayers!

God Bless you,

Pat & Sue Bradley
