Your compassion and willingness to join in our efforts to turn despair into joy has made all the difference in the world in hundreds of precious girls’ lives. We can’t thank you enough.

THANK YOU

One of the greatest needs a human being has is to know that they are loved.
That is what keeps bringing them back, sure the food is important but love is more important. To us we may be building a building, or giving food, or drilling a water well — but to them: it is a miracle.  Often times things look impossible…but for us, we ask: “but how are we going to do this.”

Home, A New Start, A Changed Future

Sex trafficking is by far one of our generations’ greatest tragedies. It is an epidemic with an estimated 4.8 million people trapped in forced sexual exploitation globally [1]. East Africa is among one of the highest areas impacted. This atrocity is a girl being marginalized, broken down, and then sold by another human being simply for pleasure or financial gain. The onslaught of abuse and demeaning torment is intended to destroy the victim, both inside and out.

Together, let’s give life back to girls that have been trapped in the horrors of sexual slavery. Help us move girls toward thriving, not merely surviving every single day. Let’s bring dignity and hope into their lives and draw them closer to God, that they may step into the fullness He has for them.

The dream for these girls does not stop here. It continues to grow and to expand far beyond today.  It reaches into the lives of these precious people for years to come. We are determined to help the people of East Africa make a permanent “life-giving” change for themselves and their families. The goal is to provide each girl with opportunities they’ve never had, and without God and your help, This is impossible. They need to be rescued!

NO ONE should EVER be compelled or forced into sex in order to survive or protect their loved ones!

THE QUESTION

How do we rescue more girls in East Africa?

THE SOLUTION

THE GIRLS VILLAGE

Crisis Aid’s solution in East Africa is to design and operate a sustainable housing program known as the “Girls’ Village”.  This Village will house up to 100 young girls and their children. It will include a home, a daycare learning environment, a vocational training center, and retail space that will provide jobs for the girls once they graduate and rental income to help pay operating costs of the home.

WILL YOU GIVE TODAY?

Background
In December of 2006, Crisis Aid’s first girl was rescued from sex trafficking in East Africa. In April of 2007, the first Refuge Home was opened for 7 more girls. Three years later, the Vocational Training Center was started inside the capital city’s Red Light District.  This was to help the girls still trapped. In 2012, Crisis Aid’s first US-based home was opened.  To date, over 1050 girls have been helped worldwide; the youngest being just four years old.

Rescued, Saved, Restored

THE NEED

Serving one of the poorest and most famine-prone countries in the world, with more than half of the population living on less than $1 USD per day [2].  The pressures of famine, lack of educational opportunities, sexual and physical abuse, and forced marriage at preadolescent ages cause thousands of girls to flee to the capital.  When they arrive, the girls seek employment, only to find themselves forced or tricked into a life of sexual slavery.

Multiple estimates by non-government organizations and government entities reveal there are between 40,000—150,000 girls forced into prostitution in the capital city alone [3].  Forced prostitution is sex trafficking.

“I never will forget.  On one of our rescue missions when we first started, Crisis Aid rescued 6 girls from the red light district.  But when we drove away, there were 5 girls left standing with their bags packed, crying.  These girls were begging to be rescued, but Crisis Aid had to leave them behind because we didn’t have the funding for more Refuge Homes.   That sight will always haunt me.  We have to do something more.  We can’t just leave them there.” – Pat Bradley, Founder

Currently, Crisis Aid rents 3 separate homes to house girls rescued from sex trafficking. All 3 of these homes are consistently full. With the restrictions of rental properties and space, only 35 girls can be rescued at a given time. To help girls still in the red light district, Crisis Aid opened Mercy Chapel Vocational Training Center. This vocational training is a huge step in the right direction for these girls, it provides a way for them to escape a life of sexual slavery however a vocation alone does not completely provide all they need to break the cycle. Girls Village Overlay

WHERE WE ARE TODAY

Overall Approach

Land on the main road outside of the country’s capital has been purchased and construction of the home is nearing completion.

Next steps

  • 1: Complete Phase 1, secure funding for the furnishings and the operating costs of the Home.  This includes the 100 bedrooms, kitchens, dinning rooms, play center for 40 children, family gathering spaces, and so forth.
  • 2: Once this is completed, construction on the 9 story Vocation & Commerce Center will begin with an emphasis on getting the Vocational Training Center opened as quickly as possible.
  • 3: Rent out retail and office space in the remaining areas of the commerce building.

We need your help. We are asking that you search your heart, and to be a part of these girl’s solution. Please help us furnish the Girl’s Home and begin construction of the Vocational Center and Commerce building that these girls and their children so desperately need. There is no financial gift too small or too big! Every gift matters.

WILL YOU GIVE TODAY?

We thank God for you every day and pray His richest blessings on you.  Never doubt, you have made a tremendous impact on this world by continuing to “REFUSE TO DO NOTHING”

God Bless You

Australian Embassy gives freedom to girls held captive in sex trafficking in East Africa

The Australian Embassy gifted grants to Crisis Aid to directly support vocational education and life training skills to hundreds of girls trapped in sex trafficking within an East African red light district.

These girls are forced to sell their bodies every night in order to survive and provide for their family. Often the children are forced to sleep under the bed while their mom works every night. During the day girls attend Mercy Chapel Vocational Training Center in order to gain the skills, confidence, health, and hope in order to begin a new life.

Since 2006 Crisis Aid has been providing refuge, training, counseling, and healthcare services to these girls. More than 600 girls to-date have been assisted. Now because of this grant and the gifts of others, more girls can be saved, have hope, be trained, and thrive in a new life beyond their unimaginable past.

Thank you for partnering with us to Save Lives, Save Souls, and Change Futures.

Asha’s Story

Asha

Asha’s Story

At the young age of eight, Asha’s parents sold her to a local witch doctor, and the life she once knew vanished.  She was now his property and served him for an excruciating six years before running away.  Asha tried to escape her nightmare, but instead ended up trapped in sexual slavery in the area’s infamous red light district.  But God had other plans for Asha.  In 2009, we found her and welcomed her into her new home, your Crisis Aid Refuge Home.  Her nightmare was finally over!  Throughout the next few years, we had the privilege of witnessing her unbelievable transformation.

Let us share with you her life changing journey:

When Asha came to Refuge in 2009, she was withdrawn and afraid.  She could not read or write and had no dreams to share.  But things began to change, and soon after, Asha was heard saying, “I was lost, but now God has changed my life, and I will serve Him the rest of my life.”  We had no idea the fullness of that statement or what was to come.

Asha began taking courses at Crisis Aid’s Mercy Chapel Vocational Training Center.  She worked hard, and by 2011, she joined our staff serving as a runner and an office assistant.  One year later, she reached her goal of becoming the top graduate of Mercy Chapel’s first graduating class!  Just think, in only a few short years, Asha went from being unable to read or write, to graduating top of her class!  Because of her success and dedication, Asha was also promoted to be a Teacher’s Assistant in the Hair Dressing Department.

AshaBut her story does not end there.  Asha did so much more than just learn a new vocation, she went back to her beginnings and began rescuing others from the horrors of the red light district. She became a strong and very capable leader in our Global Safe Campaign.  Working with Crisis Aid to continue to rescue and restore victims held in sexual slavery became her life’s purpose.

By 2014, Asha was promoted to Assistant Coordinator of Mercy Chapel. And one year later, she became a Coordinator in the very Refuge Home that saved her.

Asha recently said, “I stayed in this Refuge Home for five years. I am working now as a normal citizen. These are the best five years of my life. Now I am happy. And above all, I have learned much love. I’m trying to give back by helping other girls.  When I summarize my life here, I found my true identity. First, I have found myself. And second, I have found something heavenly.”

This year, Asha celebrates 6 years of being on Crisis Aid staff! She continues to go back into the Red Light District bringing girls out and inviting them into your Refuge Homes and Mercy Chapel.  She also assists with the intake processes in the Homes and with basic counseling.  She shares her testimony with the girls still struggling, helping them understand the possibilities that wait for them.  After all, she knows better than anyone what it truly means to be set free.

Asha is responsible for assisting in rescuing and training hundreds of girls trapped in sexual slavery. The education you provided that empowered Asha can never be taken away from her.  In addition, the ripple effect you created touched hundreds of girls and will have a lasting impact on them and their children for the rest of their lives!

But Asha’s story is not the only one.  Many lives have been eternally changed through your giving. Real-life stories of women and children in other programs like your Children’s Home and the community around them.  Inspiring stories of girls that have graduated with a vocation they love and who are now free from slavery.  Even stories right here in the U.S. of children’s lives that have been touched through your “Wings of Love and Care” program and your U.S. Refuge Home.

Education can never be taken away from those who receive it. Education and the love of God can set and keep people free for a lifetime. Education can be the impetus which breaks the cycle of poverty forever in a person’s life, which also forever effects their family for generations to come.

With your partnership, we are launching new educational programs on dairy production and modern farming techniques in some of the most impoverished areas we have ever served. Rescuing people has always been one of our primary goals, but after seeing how the lack of education keeps people from ever breaking the curse of poverty, we are compelled to do what we can to end poverty where God has led us.

We are deeply grateful for the help you provide to young girls, children and families plagued with life-threatening poverty and oppression.  Your support has literally rescued them from the clutches of a living hell.

But you have done so much more than just help them; for many you provided life-changing opportunities that have propelled them into a life that is thriving.  Your programs have helped train, inspire and move many to live successful, independent lives through training and education.  THANK YOU!

Safe homes, food, water, medical care and the love of God save and restore lives. Your gifts save, restore and sustain by helping those who have no other way out of the cycle of poverty. But this journey for each person takes time, so please consider pledging a monthly gift in addition to what you already give annually.  Through your partnership, we can invest in the futures of more girls like Asha and other children and families who desperately need your help.  If we can impact one person at a time for the rest of their lives, isn’t it worth it?

Our vision for the future is to develop programs that not only rescue people, but that also create jobs and teach modern practices in the process. Together we can literally break the curse and shackles of poverty one person and one family at a time. But this can only be done, TOGETHER.

Thank you for considering increasing your commitment.

God bless you,

Pat and Sue Bradley
